Weft knitted fabric
Weft knitted fabrics are a type of fabric that is made using a weft knitting machine and various types of yarn, including low elastic polyester yarn, profiled polyester yarn, nylon yarn, cotton yarn, and wool yarn. The yarn is knitted together using a flat needle structure, changing plain needle structure, rib plain needle structure, double rib plain needle structure, jacquard structure, or Terry structure.
Weft knitted fabrics have several advantages, including good elasticity and extensibility, softness, firmness, wrinkle resistance, and ease of washing and drying. They are also strong and durable, with a long lifespan. However, they do have some disadvantages, such as poor moisture absorption, lack of straightness, and a tendency to curl or separate. Additionally, chemical fiber fabrics can be prone to fuzzing, pilling, and hooking.

There are mainly the following varieties of Weft knitted fabric:
- Polyester yarn dyed knitted fabric: the fabric is bright in color, beautiful, harmonious in color, compact and thick in texture, clear in texture, strong in wool type, and similar to the Tweed style of wool fabric. It is mainly used for men’s and women’s coats, suits, windcoats, vests, skirts, cotton padded jackets, children’s clothing, etc;
- Polyester knitted labor fabric: this fabric is compact and thick, firm and wear-resistant, firm and elastic. If the raw material is core spun yarn containing spandex, it can be woven into elastic knitted jeans with better elasticity. Trousers mainly used for men and women;
- Polyester knitted wick fabric: the fabric is concave and convex, thick and full, with good elasticity and warmth. Mainly used for men’s and women’s coats, suits, windbreaker, children’s clothing and other fabrics;
- Polyester covered cotton knitted fabric: the fabric is dyed and used as shirt, jacket and sportswear fabric. The fabric is crisp and wrinkle resistant, firm and wear-resistant, and the close fitting side is moisture absorbent and breathable, soft and comfortable;
- Artificial fur needle fabric: the fabric feels thick, soft and warm. According to different varieties, it is mainly used for overcoat fabric, garment lining, collar, hat, etc. Artificial fur is also made by warp knitting.
- Velvet knitted fabric: the fabric is soft, thick, firm and wear-resistant, with dense and towering fluff and soft color light. It is mainly used as outer garment fabric, collar or hat material. It can also be made of warp knitting, for example: warp knitted loop and sheared fabric;
- Port type knitted woolen fabric: it not only has the smooth, soft and bulky hand feel of cashmere fabric, but also has the characteristics of soft luster, good drapability, non shrinkage and air permeability of silk fabric. It is mainly used as fashion fabric in spring, autumn and winter.
