（1） Weft-knitted fabrics are usually made of low-elastic polyester yarn or profiled polyester yarn, nylon yarn, cotton yarn, wool yarn, etc., and woven on a variety of weft knitting machines by adopting flat needle weave, changing flat needle weave, rib flat needle weave, double rib flat needle weave, jacquard weave, terry weave, etc. It has many varieties, generally with good elasticity and extensibility. The fabric is soft, firm and wrinkle-resistant, with a strong sense of wool shape, and is easy to listen and dry. However, its hygroscopicity is poor, the fabric is not crisp enough, and it is easy to detach and curl, and the chemical fiber fabric is easy to fuzz, pilling and crochet. It mainly includes the following varieties:
- Polyester yarn-dyed knitted fabric: the fabric has bright color, beautiful appearance, harmonious color matching, compact and thick texture, clear texture, strong wool type feeling, and similar wool fabric tweed style. Mainly used for men and women’s jackets, suits, windcoats, vests, skirts, cotton-padded jacket fabrics, children’s clothing, etc;
- Polyester knitted labor fabric: this kind of fabric is compact, thick, firm and wear-resistant, crisp and elastic. If the raw material is core-spun yarn containing spandex, it can be woven into elastic knitted jeans, with better elasticity. Pants mainly used for men’s and women’s top;
- Polyester knitted wick fabric: the fabric is concave and convex, thick and plump, and has good elasticity and warmth retention. Mainly used for men and women’s jackets, suits, windbreaker, children’s clothing and other fabrics;
- Polyester cotton knitted fabric: the fabric is dyed and then used as shirt, jacket and sportswear fabric. The fabric is crisp and wrinkle-resistant, firm and wear-resistant, and the side of the body is hygroscopic and breathable, soft and comfortable;
- Artificial fur needle fabric: the fabric feels thick, soft and warm. According to different varieties, it is mainly used for overcoat fabrics, clothing linings, collars, hats, etc. Artificial fur is also made by warp knitting.
- Velvet knitted fabric: the fabric feels soft, thick, firm and wear-resistant, with dense and towering down and soft color. It is mainly used as outer garment fabric, collar or hat material. It can also be made by warp knitting, for example: warp knitted terry fleece fabric;
- Hong Kong-style knitted fabric: it has the smooth, waxy, soft and bulky feel of cashmere fabric, and the characteristics of soft luster, good drapability, non-shrinkage and breathability of silk fabric. It is mainly used as fashion fabric in spring, autumn and winter.
（2） Warp-knitted fabrics are often made of polyester, nylon, vinylon, polypropylene and other synthetic filaments, as well as cotton, wool, silk, hemp, chemical fiber and their blended yarns. It has the advantages of good longitudinal dimension stability, crisp fabric, small dispersion, no curling, good air permeability and so on. However, its lateral extension, elasticity and softness are not as good as those of weft knitted fabrics. There are mainly the following types:
- Polyester warp knitted fabric: the fabric surface is flat, bright color, thick and thin. Thin fabrics are mainly used for shirts and skirts; Medium and thick fabrics can be used for men and women’s clothing, windbreaker, upper garment, suit, trousers and other fabrics;
- Warp-knitted fleece fabric: mainly used for winter coats, windcoats, jackets, trousers and other fabrics for men and women. The fabric has good drapability and is easy to wash, dry and iron-free, but it is easy to absorb dust due to the accumulation of static electricity in use;
- Warp-knitted mesh fabric: the fabric of wearing mesh is light and thin, elastic and breathable, smooth and soft, and is mainly used as summer shirt fabric for men and women;
- Warp-knitted velvet fabric: the surface is thick and towering, with thick, plump, soft, elastic, and good thermal insulation. It is mainly used as winter clothing and children’s clothing fabric;
- Warp-knitted terry fabric: this kind of fabric has a plump and thick feel, a firm and thick body, good elasticity, moisture absorption and warmth retention, stable terry structure, and good wearing performance, mainly used as sportswear, lapel T-shirt, sleepwear, children’s clothing and other fabrics.
